summertime adult beverages

The dog days of summer are upon us. It’s hot, and people out and about doing summertime activities are looking for refreshing beverages to quench their thirst. Adult beverage makers aim to capitalize by marketing specific beverages for this time of year. Here’s a list of four different types of summertime adult beverages.

Note: Prices listed quoted from Total Wine and More in the metropolitan Twin Cities area. Prices listed to give a ballpark price as well for comparative purposes.

Hard Cider

A hard cider is an alcoholic drink made through the fermenting of fruit. They are not considered beer which requires hops and malt in the fermenting process. Hard ciders come in many different flavors such as apple, pear, wild berry and many more. Some of the more well known ciders are Angry Orchard and Strongbow.

Price: $12.99 per twelve pack (Angry Orchard)

Flavored Beer

Beer lovers that also crave a twist of extra favor may enjoy a flavored beer. Some examples include Grain Belt Blu, Schell’s Sangria, Bud Light Lemonade and Bush Light Apple. Since they’re light beers the beer flavor isn’t overpowering but neither is the added fruit flavor. I like to call these “lake beers,” because they’re really good for a hot day on a lake.

Price $11.99 per twelve pack (Bush Light Apple)

Hard Seltzer

These fizzy drinks have enjoyed an explosion of popularity in recent years offering any fruit flavor you can imagine with a low calorie content. They contain carbonated water, alcohol and fruit flavoring. Popular brands include Truly and White Claw.

Price: $14.99 per twelve pack (White Claw variety pack)

Flavored Malt Beverages

Flavored malt beverages like Mike’s have been around for years. They come in a variety of flavors and tend to have a strong flavor profile. If you pick up a Mike’s Hard Lemonade, it’s tastes like an alcoholic lemonade.

Price: $13.49 per twelve back (Mike’s variety pack)

There are summertime adult beverages for everyone’s taste. As we move through the hottest part of the year, crack open a few of your favorite to add a little extra enjoyment to your summer.

How about you, Clever Friends, is your favorite summertime adult beverage on this list? What would you add?
