What You Need To Know About Costco Photo Center’s Closures
Costco members are about to have one less service available to them. As of February 14th, 2021, all in store Costco photo centers will close for good. Some have already closed. News regarding Costco Photo Center’s Closure was announced on the Costco Photo Center website.
In the announcement, the warehouse giant told customers changing times led to the decision. People are taking more pictures than ever, but digital technologies allow people to do more with pictures themselves at home. Social media and high quality home printers have decreased demand for in store printing to the point it is no longer feasible to continue the service.
Discontinued Services
When the photo centers close, the following services will no longer be available:
- Ink refills
- Passport photos
- Photo restoration
- YesVideo home movie transfer
Online Services Still Available
The following services will continue to be available online for home delivery:
- Photo prints
- Enlargements
- Posters
- Stationary
- Greeting cards
- Photo books
- Calendars
- Photo blankets and other photo gifts
- Business printing
Where Can You Go Instead?
Many customers will continue to take advantage of Costco’s services online, however there will be many who will desire same day services. There will be others that feel more comfortable having their products printed locally and picked up instead of being shipped to their home.
Retailers that still provide on site photo services are:
- CVS
- Walgreens
- Walmart
- Target
Availability of services vary by location. Check with your local retailer of choice to find out what services offered at a specific location.
