How To Get Free Beer on International Beer Day
In the summertime, almost nothing is more refreshing than an ice-cold beer. Well, thanks to a California man, the whole world has an entire day dedicated to the centuries-old beverage. Below, you’ll find everything you need to know about beer’s special day and how to get free beer on International Beer Day.
When is International Beer Day?
International Beer Day has been celebrated since 2007 and was originally held on August 5. However, in 2012, after a poll was conducted by the founder Jesse Avshalomov, the celebratory day was changed to the first Friday in August. This ensures that an international day of drinking always falls at the start of the weekend to help with the hangovers, unlike the traditional drunken holiday of St. Patrick’s Day.
How to Celebrate International Beer Day
There are many ways you can celebrate International Beer Day but, depending on where you live, some options may not be available to you. For instance, thanks to the global pandemic that has been plaguing our way of life for the past year and a half, there might not be many bars open in your area.
If going to a local bar sounds like wading through medieval Europe to you then consider having some friends over to your house. Everyone loves a good barbeque or civilized house party. Stock up on the essentials and celebrate with your favorite brew. Just use your own discretion to decide what is best for you.
How to Get Free Beer on International Beer Day
We are all in agreement that beer is awesome but that is the reason you can’t find anyone giving it away for free. Fortunately for us, there are plenty of ways to save some cash while you drink the day away. On International Beer Day, many companies such as breweries and restaurants have promotions to try and get customers through the door.
The first place you should look for cheap or free beer on International Beer Day is your local brewery. While none of my local breweries are offering beer for free, several are doing promotions on the big day. Sycamore Brewing in Charlotte, N.C. is giving away an Airstream trailer. Another local spot, the Olde Mecklenburg Brewery, is releasing its new Carolina Keller beer. So, be sure to check around for events in your area you might be surprised at what you find.
If you don’t want to hang out with dudes that have ironic beards and drink beer that tastes like old bread, breweries aren’t the only place with deals. Some big restaurant chains are offering beers you’ve heard of before at a discount. For example, Chilli’s is offering $3 domestic draft beers and $6 boneless hot wings. Other places like Pizza Bar are offering two for the price of one beer special with the purchase of a pizza.
All in all, the way you spend International Beer Day is up to you. You can go to your local brewery and drink your bread or gorge yourself on Miller Lite and chicken at Chilis. The choice is yours but the only thing you should do on International Beer Day is have a beer.
