Best Grills Under $200 – Get Ready to Barbecue for Less
People find various ways to decompress and escape from the difficulties of life. Like reading. Or, going for a long drive. I love to grill. There is absolutely nothing in the world I prefer more than setting up my grill, assembling my grill accessories, and trying to master the art of smoking grilled meat to perfection while not drowning it in excess BBQ sauce.
Actually, strike that last comment. I have learned it is best to slather a little BBQ sauce right at the end of cooking. Or, not use any and allow people to use it as a condiment as they eat. Grilling is almost a religion to me and I am not alone in that sentiment. Well over 70% of Americans own a gas, charcoal, or electric powered grill of some kind.
Finding the Best Grills Under 200
Over 64% of American own a gas-powered grill, like the kinds powered by propane. Charcoal, wood pellet, and electric grills follow gas-power in terms of popularity. However, as much I enjoy grilling, I don’t always enjoy the setup, maintenance, and cleanup responsibilities that comes with grilling. I began researching the best grills under 200 bucks in terms of portability, ease of use, and ease of cleanup.
Here are some selections from my list of some of the best grills under $200.
Cuisinart CGG-180 Petit Gourmet Portable Gas Grill with VersaStand
This Cuisinart CGG-180 Petit Gourmet Portable Gas Grill with VersaStand is smaller in stature compared to other grills but is extremely portable and easy to clean. The main grilling area measures about 145 square inches and has a BTU input of 5,500. Keep in mind that you can’t grill Flintstone-sized portions of meat. The drip tray is also smaller than average. However, it weighs 17 pounds, is easy to transport, clean, and store. Great for grilling with the family or small-capacity guest events. Sells for about $120.
Char-Broil Classic 360 3-Burner Liquid Propane Gas Grill
The Char-Broil Classic 360 3-Burner Liquid Propane Gas Grill comes with over 360 square inches of available grilling space. The grates are porcelain covered. There is also a swing-away rack that is also porcelain covered and provides another 170 square inches of grilling space. The porcelain coating makes it resistant to rust and much easier to clean.
It comes with dual side shelves on either end of the grill. You can store utensils and accessories with ease. The top of the shelves provides almost a square foot of surface area for food prep. They don’t fold up, however. The grill is easy to assemble, comes with a grill cover and offers great flame control. It isn’t portable and doesn’t have a thermometer. Still, it’s a great grill that sells for about $194.
Char-Broil Portable 240 Liquid Propane Gas Grill
The Char-Broil Portable 240 Liquid Propane Gas Grill weighs only 22 pounds, is easy to transport and store, and is perfect for grilling while traveling. It has a 240 square inch grilling area. This grill requires a 1-pound propane tank and has an easy to read temperature gauge. The grill also comes with sturdy legs, a large handle, and a porcelain painted coating. The lid isn’t very secure after closing, but not many other drawbacks. Sells for about $100.
The Best Grill Isn’t Always Expensive
Many of the best grills under $200 can be utilized as starter grills before making a more expensive purchase. You don’t always have to pay a lot to get the most out of a grill.
