Must-Play Video Games of the 2021 Holiday Season
The holiday season is right around the corner and video games are always a hot commodity. Each year, video games are in high demand but they continue to get more expensive. At Clever Dude, we understand that it can be a real bummer when you shell out between $60 and $100 on a new game just for it to be a dud. For that reason, we decided to share some of our must-play video games for the 2021 holiday season.
Must-Play Video Games for the 2021 Holiday Season
Not all machines that play video games are created equal and for many years the system you had determined a lot of the games you could play. While that is partially still true, many developers are building their games for multiple platforms and some even allow cross-platform play to help reach a broader audience. In order to make this list as inclusive as possible, we made sure to include games that are released on multiple platforms.
Battlefield 2042
First on our list is a game that I am personally excited about, which is Battlefield 2042. For those who are not familiar with the Battlefield franchise, they are multiple-player-based, first-person shooter games. Normally, they are set during a world war. This time around, the Battlefield is a war that hasn’t happened yet.
The basic premise is, in a semi-apocalyptic future, the United States and Russia are at war, and you play as a soldier fighting for either side. There is no campaign or story mode in this iteration of Battlefield. It only focuses on online multiplayer combat. The core game mode in Battlefield 2042 is Conquest. In this mode, all the players are split into two teams tasked with capturing areas around the map while destruction and climate disasters unfold around you.
I had early access to the Beta of Battlefield 2042 and I played it for about 25 hours in total. My initial takeaway from the game is the map design is beautiful and the movement felt great. I did find some issues with the audio and some of the control settings were completely unintelligible but I can honestly say, despite its faults, I had a blast.
Battlefield 2042 releases on November 19th on PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One. If you are a fan of first-person shooter games, Battlefield 2042 should definitely be on your holiday list.
Forza Horizon 5
If you have a need for speed in your life, you should definitely check out Forza Horizon 5. This open-world racing simulator game releases on November 9th and is the fifth iteration in the Forza series.
Forza Horizon 5 is set in Mexico and the map has an array of different biomes for you to race the world’s most exotic cars. From the test footage, the game looks amazing and it seems that there will be more of a focus on off-road driving than in the previous games. If you enjoy racing games in general, Forza Horizon 5 is a must-play. Unfortunately for PlayStation users, this game is only available for PC and Xbox.
These are probably two of the most anticipated games for the late fall and winter season. If you have a gamer in your life, you won’t go wrong by purchasing either of these must-play video games for the holiday season.
