Managing Your Team Effectively

As a manager, you need to be able to find ways to manage your team effectively and increase their levels of productivity, without causing employee dissatisfaction or an abundance of workplace stress. Good managerial skills include looking at ways to alter the current methods of working to better suit the needs of your team, as well as to find any weaknesses within a team member, or yourself, to allow for further training and improvement. In this article, we will look at ways to manage your team to the best of your ability.

Using a Digital Asset Management tool

One of the ways in which you can improve the efficiency of any communications or the handling of marketing materials is through the usage of Digital Asset Management software. This will allow you and your team to store, view, and share images and other digital resources on a single platform, removing the need for emailing attachments or for your colleagues to be granted permission to your files.

DAM is a secure system, meaning only those with designated accounts and permissions can access specific files. This means you can have some files which your team has access to, but also other files which only you would be able to see within the search results. This both gives you privacy and means that you can work in unison on similar, or even the same, projects without the need for distraction. Y

Positive Reinforcement

Boosting the morale of your team is another way that you can improve their productivity. Generally, team members who feel happy in their workplace, and with their manager, are more likely to work harder and remain in the role. Different types of positive reinforcement may work depending on the individual. If possible, organising some kind of reward event or bonus may also keep that morale and, therefore, productivity high. Depending on your managerial level, you may need to clear this with those above you but the benefits of a contented level of staff show, such as by reducing staff turnover.

Open Communication

Being an approachable manager is another way to increase the likelihood of success. Even though you may have a lot of work to complete, your team may still need guidance, support, or even feedback on their tasks. This may involve physical meetings, email contact, telephone contact if a member of your team is not in the office, or even the use of a number of professional messaging apps. These will enable you to get on with your tasks but also be able to liaise with your team in real time as and when you have the chance to respond.

A manager should take the time to listen to any concerns or issues that their team members may be having. This way, you are more likely to be respected by your team than if you simply gave orders  without paying attention to the welfare of the individuals you are responsible for.

Finding quicker, easier means of communicating with other staff, easing their workload, and improving their workplace enjoyment can go a long way. A manager who shows dedication to their business and the individuals within it may meet with far more success than one who lacks that drive to improve.
