Home Office Upgrades 2022
Spring has essentially sprung in my corner of the world and that means it is time, once again, for home office upgrades. If you haven’t been following my family’s journey towards work from luxury, here is a quick recap.
About two years ago, I made the transition from full-time Porsche technician to full-time writer. In order to make this dream a reality, I pieced together an office in our home. When my wife and I first moved into our house, all we had to work on were a couple of old laptops and no desks to put them on.
Over the last year, I bought my wife a new Lenovo Legion Pro gaming laptop. I bought myself a Corsair a7200 gaming PC. We got a couple of 32-in LG monitors, cheap amazon desks, and even went through multiple office chairs trying to find a decent seat. While the topic of office chairs is still a sore subject around my house, we are on the hunt to improve our desk situation.
To save you the trouble of scouring the internet looking for your next workstation, the Clever Dude has narrowed down the list to three desks worthy of your hard-earned cash. Without further ado, here are a few desks that will take your home office to the next level.
Lagkapten Alex Desk
The first desk on our list comes from one of the go-to places to find reasonably priced furniture, Ikea. Say what you will about the quality of this Scandinavian native brand but there is a reason everyone knows their name. Pretty much everything they make is moderately well built, stylish and affordable. The desk I am talking about in particular is the Lagkapten Alex. Essentially this is just two cabinets and a tabletop but both Alex cabinets are filled with drawers.
Each Alex cabinet has five drawers for you to fill with whatever you need to get through the day. Need somewhere to stick a bill you aren’t ready to pay? Stick it in a drawer. Need a place for snacks to keep your blood sugar up? Stick them in a drawer. Rough day at the office and need to chill out? Keep a bottle of whiskey in a drawer. With the Lagkapten Alex desk, Ikea has your storage needs covered for the low price of $249.
Cubiker Computer Desk
If you’re on a tight budget, you might want to check out the Cubiker computer desk. The Cubiker is about as simple of a desk as you can get but it gets the job done. I know because this is the actual desk my wife bought from Amazon and currently still uses. The Cubiker computer desk comes in a variety of sizes from 32 inches up to 66 inches. If you need a desk to get your office up and running, you can pick up the Cubiker computer desk for $79 at Amazon right now.
Secretlab Magnus Desk
Saving the best for last, I’d like to introduce you to the Secretlab Magnus metal desk. If you’re a gamer like we both are, this desk will be right up your alley. The Magnus is made of high-quality metal and has a host of features like RGB lighting, a headphone rack, a cup holder, and even a tray to hide all your cables. The only thing you might not like about the Magnus is the price. It starts at $628. A lot of the cool stuff like the cup holder and different desk mats cost extra. However, if you’re looking for a true baller addition to your gaming setup, definitely check out the Secretlab Magnus desk.
What kind of desk are you using in your office space? What recommendations would you make?
