Help The Hungry – DINE OUT for Thanksgiving in February!!

February 26, 2008

Even though Stacie and I have a pact that we don’t eat out for dinner on Monday-Thursday evenings (weekends are fair game), I’m enticed by this offer to help donate to the needy and get a decent meal in the Montgomery County, MD area. Even Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream is participating! Here are the details:

Montgomery County restaurants will be sponsoring a Thanksgiving-In-February Day on Tuesday, February 26, 2008, where participanting restaurants will donate from 10-20% of the receipts to support local community agencies such as:

Bethesda Cares
Manna Food Center
Community Vision
Bethesda HELP
Olney HELP
Damascus HELP
Rockville FISH/HELP
Gaithersburg HELP
Shepherd’s Table
Germantown HELP
WUMCO HELP

See the website at www.thanksgivinginfebruary.org, and be sure to click on “Where To Eat” for a list of participanting restaurants helping the needs of our community. DINE OUT on Tuesday, February 26 and support hunger relief programs. You can also make a tax-deductible contribution (see website for details).

You could just donate an amount to these various community agencies and 100% would go to them. You then wouldn’t have to shell out the other 80-90 percent for eating out during the week. Just a thought.

FM: I agree with you, but if you’re going out to eat anyway, it’s an option. Personally, I’d rather BOTH use a coupon AND donate to the charity.
