Delta Dental adds more free yearly cleanings for special groups
I just received this email from our corporate office regarding our dental provider, Delta Dental:
Delta Dental, our dental benefit provider, is pleased to introduce an innovative program called “Healthy Smile, Healthy You," designed to address the special health concerns of our diabetic and pregnant members.
* Diabetic members are now eligible for one additional cleaning or periodontal maintenance procedure beyond the ordinary limit per
benefit period.
* Pregnant members are now eligible for one additional cleaning or periodontal maintenance procedure during the term of their pregnancy, regardless of normal plan frequency limits.As recent scientific research indicates, good oral hygiene is connected to overall general health and diabetic individuals and pregnant women face the most health risks if they fail to address the importance of regular oral care.
If you didn’t know, that growing child in your womb can sap the calcium straight out of your bones (well, not that dramatically). You need to take in more calcium in order to replace what is going to your baby.
Fortunately, neither I nor the “Dudette” are diabetic, but it may come in handy down the road in our family plans.
