Since my site is drawing more and more traffic daily, and more and more comments, I felt it was about time to outline my rules for commenting here at CleverDude.com.
I don’t have too many rules, but I stick firm to the ones I have:
- I DO NOT allow swearing. Most likely, if your comment includes a swear word, then I’ll trash it or tag it as spam. However, if the comment has a good thought otherwise, I’ll just edit the offending word out and allow the rest.
- If you’re offensive to other readers, myself, or anyone else, I will probably delete your comment. I do allow criticism, but it must be constructive. Just calling me an idiot and leaving isn’t allowed, but disagreeing strongly with an idea of mine with a good justification is definitely appreciated.
- Because this is my site, I have full rights to edit or delete any comment for any reason. That said, I have edited only 5 comments out of hundreds to-date. Sometimes, I correct grammar or horrible spelling, and other times I remove blatant advertising, but keep the heart of the comment. If your comment gets edited, and you don’t like it, contact me and we can work it out.
That’s pretty much it. If you don’t like the rules, then you should probably just disconnect your internet connection and leave the rest of us productive and civil internet users alone. For the rest of you, feel free to comment. Remember, if you’re a top commenter (aka Commentator), you’ll be featured with a free link to your site on my right sidebar!
everyone shall drool at my fantasy baseball team when i become the top ranter and raver.
Awesome! A reason to comment spam your site!
Yes, I know Top Commentator can attract spammers, but see #3 rule above. I’ve combined some comments into a single comment before too.
Good policy. I do the same on Consumerism Commentary.
Nothing wrong with a good ol’ comment policy.
You know I don’t even see why we need to put these things up. To me a normal human being would see that it does not make sense to go on someone’s blog and start to curse and expect that to get published. It makes me mad when people do stupid stuff like that but I guess we are not all rational.
Idiot 🙂
Ok, I guess I’ll allow Shawn to keep that comment since he wants to identify himself appropriately. However, you shouldn’t really call yourself bad names 😛
Actually, being my best friend IRL probably allows some leniency with the rules.
But still no swearing!
