Merry Christmas! Put Your Finances Away For One Day

Today’s post is a short one, reminding you to enjoy your holidays to the fullest.

We were discussing vacation plans last week at work. We are at a very critical time for a project we are working on, and we were trying to figure out how we could at least have someone covering support through the holidays. My technical leader said, “If you have vacation, take it. Don’t roll it over into next year, just take it. The work will be here when you get back.”

I spend an enormous amount of time and energy thinking about our family’s finances, and also discussing them with my wife. Not a day goes by that we do not have some conversation regarding our budget, our spending plan, our retirement accounts, or what transactions posted in our bank account over night.

But today, I’m taking that same advice when it comes to money.

• I can’t do any banking, because the banks are closed.
• Most everywhere I would pay a bill is closed.
• Almost every store where I would shop is closed.
• My investments aren’t going to gain or lose because the stock market is closed.

I’m taking the hint. I will be spending the day enjoying the people around me, and celebrating the holiday. Finances, investments and next week’s budget will be sitting there waiting for me tomorrow.
