4 Things Fans Are Eager To See In The Upcoming F1 Season

It’s race week and the upcoming Formula 1 season is already shaping up to be one of the most exciting in years. There have been major changes in the teams and there are more rookies on the grid than there have been in years. Fans, like myself, are buzzing with anticipation. It will be interesting to see how the plethora of changes shake things up. Here are four things I (and many other F1 fans) are eager to see.
1. Kimi Antonelli Driving for Mercedes
One of the most talked-about changes is the arrival of Kimi Antonelli at Mercedes, stepping into one of the most coveted seats in F1. The Italian wonderkid has dominated in the junior categories and is now set to prove himself against the sport’s best. Many are eager to see if he can handle the pressure of replacing a legend and bring fresh energy to the Silver Arrows. Mercedes, looking to bounce back from recent struggles, hopes Antonelli will be their next superstar. His natural talent and aggressive driving style could make him an instant fan favorite.
2. Lewis Hamilton’s Shocking Move to Ferrari
I was personally shocked when Lewis Hamilton officially announced his move to Ferrari last year. Honestly, it was heartbreaking in many ways. Mercedes gave Lewis six of his seven World Championship wins. It felt like a slap in the face to Mercedes fans that he’d leave the team following a couple of bad years performance-wise. However, he’s now set to take a seat in Ferrari’s car in 2025. I’m not the only person eager to see how he performs in the iconic red car. Could he bring Ferrari a championship win? Or will the transition be harder than he expected? Only time will tell.
3. The Biggest Rookie Class in Years
There are so many rookies on the grid this year. In fact, it is one of the largest intakes of rookies in recent memory. This adds another layer of unpredictability to the championship. The F1 rookies include Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Liam Lawson, Oliver Bearman, Gabriel Bortoleto, Jack Doohan, and Isack Hadjar. Fans like myself are interested to see how these fresh faces adapt. If any of these drivers provide their teams with a strong rookie performance, it could shift team dynamics for years to come.
4. Oscar Piastri’s Shot at a Home GP Victory
Many people have been talking about the possibility of Oscar Piastri winning the first Grand Prix in Melbourne this weekend. This would be amazing! If he wins, it would make him the first Australian to win a home race since 1980 when Alan Jones took P1 on the podium. McLaren has undoubtedly improved, putting Piastri in a position where he really could win it. If he’s able to pull it off, it could be one of the biggest moments of the season. We’ll get to see how things play out on Sunday.
A Season Packed with Excitement
There are some really exciting things happening in Formula 1 right now. This season, we will see how some of the driver shake-ups impact the grid. Could Lewis Hamilton make a comeback with Ferrari? Is it possible that some of the young talent will come in and break the mold? With so many new faces on new teams, every race weekend is going to be thrilling to watch.
What are some of your predictions for the upcoming F1 season?
