Four Ways To Inexpensively Teach Yourself a New Skill
Many people have a little extra time on their hands due to activities being limited during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now just might be the right time to self educate yourself about a topic, or learn a new skill you’ve been interested in for years. Many highly successful people believe growing your knowledge and skill base is key to achieving your goals and living a happy and fulfilling life. But budgets are also tight. How can you inexpensively teach yourself a new skill?
Internet
A simple internet search can turn up a mountain of information. Some of it may be accurate, but some of it may not. Keep in mind that in many cases you get what you pay for.
Library
For a small fee, or even free in some communities, a library card gains you access to every book and magazine in the library. However, you do have to go to the library to check out a physical book (although some also have online resources), and you can’t keep the material forever.
Online Book Retailers
Online retailers such as Barnes and Noble and even Amazon sell books to be delivered to your home. But for even less money, you can buy the online version of the material. Getting information this way is inexpensive and it’s yours forever.
MasterClass
MasterClass is an online service that features video series created by experts. You can learn how to skateboard from Tony Hawk or how to make Beef Wellington from Wolfgang Puck. It does cost $15 a month, or $180 for a full year but the information is spectacular quality. The fact that it’s in video format is a definite plus.
Learning something new will help you grow as a person. Gaining new knowledge doesn’t have to cost a fortune. If you use one of the four resources listed above you can inexpensively teach yourself a new skill. It might spark a new interest, hobby, or even career.
How about you, Clever Friends, what was the last new thing you learned just for fun? Are you doing any self-education right now?
