We’ve redesigned the site! again
Just a quick post before I head to bed (it’s pretty late).
I spent about 5 hours tonight recoding Clever Dude into a new theme. The last theme (Dago Pakar) just had too many inconsistencies to make it easy to manage, and I was tired of fussing with the fonts.
I happened upon this new theme and was surprised I didn’t find it before. I barely had to change any colors (just threw in some green wherever you see it). I did have to do some heavy work to trim down the header and get the sidebars just right, but I’m quite pleased with it.
There are still a few things to be fixed, and if you happen upon something that doesn’t look quite right or doesn’t work, then please leave a comment (I get them right away).

Looks much better! The only thing that caught my eye as odd, is where under the title there is a gray bar, which is fine, but the rounded footer to each post looks as though it belongs to the post below it, because of the way the gray work… I don’t know, could just be me over analyzing. Love the new layout rocks!
Thanks! I’ve removed the rounded corner image, but left the gray background. Let’s see how that works.
I did remove the background entirely, but then it just looked like it was hanging out there.
Also turns out that Spam Karma 2 (SK2) and WP-Cache don’t play nice in wordpress 2.1, so I got a plugin from Priv to correct the problem.

Great job on the site – I’m still a bit young for a lot of this stuff to really apply / sink in for me (18… almost there, still parent supported, in college, switching jobs) but it’s all great to have in the back of my mind for the future, and its a mindset to get into early!

Got another question for ya, is the share button some sort of plug in? I haven’t seen it on anywhere else yet, it’s kinda neat. Gives the site much cleaner look without piling up all the bookmark buttons.
That’s the Share This plugin. It’s very easy to implement. You activate the plugin and it does the rest for you.
Looks good. Maybe I should finally abandon my custom theme. It causes me too many headaches.
Good looking layout that’s easy on the eyes. I like it. Advertising is also nicely integrated. Congrats on the new look.
Too bad I am not using WP! And I am too afraid to switch now… after the failture of database restore…
