Thanks for the Hits! August 2008 Traffic and Referral Numbers
August traffic was as I expected: moderate. I actually had very similar numbers as in June, but I expect September numbers to be significantly higher now that summer is over.
Visitors: 24,704
Pageviews: 37,101
That’s almost double my traffic from August 2007, so a big year-over-year increase is what I like to see!
Subscribers
Finally! I crossed over the 1,900 subscriber mark in August! Specifically, I crossed over 1,900 four times, with the highest being 1,916 people either pulling my RSS feed or subscribing via email. Now onto 2,000!
Traffic Sources
At a high level:
Search Engines: 48%
Referring Sites: 35%
Direct Traffic: 17%
Top Personal Finance Blog Referrers
So which Personal Finance site sent the most traffic my way in August? How did they compare to last month’s rankings? Well, you’ll see last month’s rank after the new rank in (). If they weren’t ranked last month, you’ll see a (-). As a note, I’m not considering major multi-author or commercial blogs in this list (see next section):
- (-) MSN Smart Spending
- (1) My Money Blog
- (3) Five Cent Nickel
- (5) No Credit Needed
- (4) Canadian Capitalist (PFN Buddy!)
- (2) Quest for Four Pillars (PFN Buddy!)
- (-) Squawkfox (PFN Buddy!)
- (10) MoneyNing (PFN Buddy!)
- (-) Blueprint for Financial Prosperity
- (-) Broke Grad Student and Mrs. Micah
As a note, I moved MSN Smart Spending blog into this section since it really is a Personal Finance blog, and they send me quite a chunk of visitors each month now.
Top Non-PF Blog Referrers
Here are the search engine, group blog, non-PF blog and other referrers for July. For the first few sites, their total share of my traffic is in parentheses:
- Google Search (40%)
- Direct Traffic (18%)
- Google Reader and Homepage (4%)
- Yahoo! Search
- StumbleUpon
- AOL Search
- MSN Search (MSN and/or Live Search)
- Zen Habits (still pulling in links from his Brown Bag article last year)
- My Yahoo Feed Reader
- Bloglines Feed Reader
Again, thanks to all my readers, fellow bloggers, commenters and scrapers for making this site such a success!
